Terms of Use

Introduction

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully.
ScienceReach Consulting Inc. ("ScienceReach") is an electronic publishing / data business. By accessing, browsing, and using the Site, you agree to be bound to the Site Terms. If you disagree with these Terms or any part of these Terms, do not use the Site.
These Terms constitute a legal agreement between the User and ScienceReach, as defined below.

Interpretation and Definitions

In these Terms, unless stated otherwise:
"Buyers" means the Users who purchase services from the Knowledge Service Hub.
"Commercial Use" means: Any uses of the Original Content by the Users or anyone individuals that accesses the Original Content on the platform for purposes other than individual personal reading. Commercial Use includes, but is not limited to, integrating incorporating, referencing, citing, or and describing any material and content from Original Content of the Site into the Users' other works and activities. Commercial Use includes, but is not limited to, educational, research, and teaching purposes. Moreover, Commercial Use includes any type of data originating from the Original Content on the platform, including factual, non-factual, qualitative, quantitative, subjective, objective, documented, or undocumented. Moreover, Commercial Use includes integrating, referencing, citing, and describing content from the Original Content in any all length or formats.
"Company" means: the Conseil Science Reach Inc. / Science Reach Consulting Inc. (referred to as either "We", "Us", "the Seller" or "Our" in these Terms)
"Cookie" means a small file, stored on a user's hard drive by a website. Its purpose is to collect data relating to the User's browsing habits. You can choose to be notified each time a cookie is transmitted or choose to disable cookies entirely in your internet browser.
"Original Content" means: Any information, data, and content that is provided by our Users, stored, published using Science Communication Plans or Community Knowledge Publications templates hosted on the Site or the Services on the website.
"Personal Data" means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.
"Privacy Officer" means the individual designated and responsible to oversee the Company's compliance with privacy laws such as the "Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (P-39.1)".
"Service" means the services or products provided by ScienceReach through the Knowledge Service Hub or the knowledge services provided by community organizations on their profiles on ScienceReach. The Service simplifies access to local data and knowledge services, connecting researchers, policy makers, and students with community organizations. Users are connected to three matching community organizations, prioritizing User preferences. The process is coordinated, and Users are kept informed at every stage.
"Site" means the ScienceReach Platform with the web address: www.sciencereach.ca
"Users" or "User" means any individual or representative of organizations that visit, create a profile (sign up), login, view, access, and or create Original Content on the Site. (Referred to as "You" in these Terms).

Purpose

The purpose of these Terms is to govern the use of the Site and to establish the rights and responsibilities of the Users and the Company.
These Terms aim to inform Users of the Site about the following:
  1. The Personal Data we collect;
  2. The use of collected data;
  3. Who has access to the collected data;
  4. Their rights regarding the collected data; and
  5. The Site's cookie policy.
These Terms apply in addition to Privacy Policy of our Site.

Consent

By using our Site, Users consent to:
  1. The conditions set out in this Terms; and
  2. The collection, use, and retention of the data listed in these Terms.

Why We Collect Personal Info

We collect Personal information for the following purposes:
  1. Identify the Users of the Site ;
  2. Link and attribute the production of the Original Content to the Users ;
  3. Track the Commercial Use of the Original Content among the Users of the Site ;
  4. Improve User Experience, and the Site's performance;
  5. For other purposes: We may use the Users' Personal information for other purposes, such as legal compliance, research and development, marketing, and promotions.

Personal Data We Collect

We only collect data that helps us achieve the purpose set out in these Terms. We will not collect any additional data beyond the data listed below without notifying Users first.

Data Collected Automatically

When Users visit and use the Site, we may automatically collect and store the following information:
  1. Personal Information (e.g., name, email address, address)
  2. Autofill Data (e.g., username, encrypted password)
  3. Employment Information (position, affiliation, logo and picture, the field of work or practice)
  4. Other Form Fields (e.g., partners, awards)
  5. User-Generated Content (e.g., Original Content, reviews, comments)

Data Collected in a Non-Automatic Way

We may also collect the following data when Users perform certain functions on our Site:
  1. Personal Information (e.g., name, email address, address)
  2. Autofill Data (e.g., username, encrypted password)
  3. Employment Information (position, affiliation, logo and picture, the field of work or practice)
  4. Other Form Fields (e.g., partners, awards)
  5. User-Generated Content (e.g., Original Content, reviews, comments)
This data may be collected through the following methods:
  1. Creating an account or signing up;
  2. Creating Community Knowledge Publications; and
  3. Creating a Science Communication Plan.
  4. Accessing or requesting Services

How We Use Personal Data

We will only use the collected data for the purposes explicitly outlined in these Terms or as indicated on the relevant pages of the Site. We will not use your data beyond what is disclosed in these Terms.
The data we collect automatically is used for the following purposes:
  1. Creating profiles or signing up
  2. Creating Original Content
  3. Publishing Original Content on the Site.
  4. Providing or requesting Services
The followings are the potentials actions that may be taken with the collected data when Users perform certain functions on the Site:
  1. Processed: the data may be analyzed, organized, or manipulated;
  2. Shared: the data may be disclosed or distributed within the organization;
  3. Aggregated: the data may be combined with other datasets;
  4. Published: the data may be made publicly available on the Site;
  5. Revised: the data may be corrected or updated;
  6. Changed: the data may be modified;
  7. Removed: the data may be deleted from the system or the database;
  8. Terminated: the data may be discontinued;
  9. Matched: the data may be compared or be paired with other datasets.

Who We Share Personal Data With

Employees

User data may be disclosed to any member of the Company who requires access to it to achieve the purposes outlined in the Privacy Policy, provided that such access is deemed reasonable.

Other Users

User information is securely stored on the servers hosting the site. However, we may share user data with other users of the site for specific purposes, such as commercial use, viewing, or reading. Any sharing of user data with other Users is limited to what is reasonably to achieve these purposes.

Third Parties

We will not sell or share your data with other third parties, except in the following cases:
  1. If mandated by law;
  2. If necessary for any legal proceeding;
  3. If essential for proving or protecting our legal rights; and
  4. If required to buyers or potential buyers of the Company in the event of a sale of the Company.
  5. If you request Services form organizations or from the Site.
If you choose to follow hyperlinks from the Site to another website, please note that we do not bear responsible for, nor do we have control over, their privacy policies and practices.
Please note that for the Users of the Knowledge Service Hub, your request and work will be also shared with third-party organizations for review purposes. This involves matching you with an organization that will assess and provide feedback on your request and work. However, your data will be only shared for the purpose of this review process and will not be used for other purposes without your consent.

How Long We Store Personal Data

User Personal Data (excluding Original Content) will be stored until the purpose for which it was collected has been achieved. Furthermore, Users can request the Site to access the information stored on the servers (See section "How to Access, Modify, Delete, or Challenge the Data Collected".
If User personal data is retained beyond the specified period, Users will be notified by email to the email address they have provided us with.
We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
Original Content of Users will be stored until their Commercial Use has been achieved. Original Content of Users might contain name of its producers.

How We Protect Users' Personal Data

Despite implementing all reasonable precautions to secure User Data, it is important to acknowledge that risks of harm persist due to the inherent insecurity of the Internet environment. Consequently, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of User date beyond what is reasonably feasible.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under 13 years of age. Should we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 years of age, the personal data will be promptly deleted. If a child under 13 years of age has provided us with personal data, their parent or guardian may contact our privacy officer for assistance.

How to Access, Modify, Delete, or Challenge the Data Collected

Users seeking information about whether the Company has collected, used, or disclosed their Personal Data, including to whom it was disclosed, or who wish to have their data deleted (excluding Original Content) or modified in any way, can contact the Company's Privacy Officer:

You may also update, modify, or delete your Personal Data at any time by accessing your account, if you have one, and visiting the Account settings where you can manage your personal details.
Please be aware, however, that we certain information may be retained if we have a legal obligation or lawful basis to do so.

How to Opt-Out of Data Collection, Use or Disclosure

In addition to the method(s) described in the How to Access, Modify, Delete, or Challenge the Data Collected section, we provide the following specific opt-out methods for the collection, use, or disclosure of your Personal Data as specified below:
  1. For all forms of data collected on the Site, the User can opt-out by submitting a written request to info@sciencereach.ca.

Cookie Policy

We do not use cookies on our Site.

Additional Clauses

(A) Our intended and recommended usage of the Site encompasses :
(a) Sharing knowledge and insights about community challenges, needs and priorities among Users;
(b) Creating science communication plans that announce Users' knowledge and research activities. This usage includes personal purposes (e.g., individual reading) and Commercial Use for education, teaching, and research purposes. The Users' usage of the Site must not create any harm, whether financial, reputational, social, to any individual or organization. The determination of the instance of harm lies within the rights of the Site. Any reported instances of harm or its potential will result in the removal of Users' Original Content and/or profile. Users are responsible for any other usage of the Site's content.
(B) Users are prohibited from disclosing, publishing, posting, or promoting the names of individuals or any other identifiable information traceable to individuals and organizations in their Original Content creation (specifically in the Community Knowledge Publications, Science Communication Plans and Services) without prior obtaining their written consent. ScienceReach, upon detecting this information, will remove such content without prior notice to the User and will subsequently inform Users of the measures taken via email to the email address they have provided us with.
(C) By using the Site, Users who create accounts with the names and titles of organizations acknowledge and declare themselves as representatives of said organizations. Accordingly, they assume and accept sole and full responsibility for the content they provide on the platform. The Site does not verify the representativeness of individuals from the claimed and titled organizations. However, in case of fraud or misleading information that can affect the representativeness of individuals, the Site will remove the User's content without prior notice and will subsequently inform Users of the measures taken via email to the email address they have provided us with.
(D) By using the site, Users that create science communication plans agree and announce that they possess all requisite permissions from their affiliated organizations or the other parties that have funded, informed, supported, or collaborated in their science communication plans and original research projects.
(E) By using the site, Users consent to the Site publishing and sharing their profile info (provided during the signup process of the platform) and their Original Content (Community Knowledge Publications, Science Communication Plans, Services) with other Users of the Site.
(F) The Site makes no warranty and promises or accepts any responsibility that Users' usage of the Site will result in any financial, social, or reputational gains and benefits. The Site is also not responsible for any loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities.
(G) The Site makes no warranty and promises or accepts any responsibility and commitment that the service and functionalities on this Site will meet Users' requirement or that the Site will be secure, timely, uninterrupted or error free.
(H) The Site makes no warranty and promises or accepts any responsibility and commitment that any data, content, information, software, or other material accessible on or through the Site are true, accurate, or are free of harm. Users, visitors, and readers accept the responsibility to promptly inform the privacy officer of the Site to remove the inaccurate or harmful content.
(I) Users that access, visit and perform Commercial Use of the Original Content of the Site must inform ScienceReach, using the email addresses of the Site.
(J) Users agree that they will not upload, post, and publish their Original Content, in whole or piece, on other websites and platforms that may interfere or provide an alternative source for the Commercial Use of other Users.
(K) Users agree to respect the rights of others, including privacy and intellectual property rights.
(L) Although we intend to assist the Users in using the Site, the Site and the Company are not under any obligation and accepts any responsibility and commitment to provide any website maintenance or customer support.

The knowledge as-a-service

  1. Eligibility: Only the registered Users may use the Knowledge Service Hub and request our Services.
  2. Submission and Acceptance: Submitting a request does not automatically ensure that it will be accepted by a community organization. All submissions are subject to review, agreement and approval by the Site, the organization, and the organization reserves the right to reject any request in its sole discretion.
  3. Fees and Payments: For information on fees and payments, please refer to the Payment Terms.
  4. Acceptable Use: The User agrees to not use the Services in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation.

Termination of Agreement and User Access

Users agree that the Site may terminate this agreement and Users' use of the Site at any time and without prior notice, at its sole discretion.

Jurisdiction and Governing Law

Any legal disputes related to this Privacy Policy shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Quebec, Canada. The courts of Quebec shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

Modifications

The Site and the Company reserve the right, without Users' approval or prior notice, to modify the Terms of Use, Privacy policies, platform, its functionalities, intended usage, and documentation.
Users agree that the Site and the Company have the unlimited right to alter, amend add to and/or remove content from the Terms of Use, the Privacy policies, platform, its functions, intended usage, and documentation. Any changes will be communicated to the Users through the email they have provided on the platform within thirty (30) days of the change.
Users have the right to request a change to their content, the removal of their accounts, or deleting any information on our platform, excluding the Original Content.
When the Site makes changes and amends, we will revise accordingly the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Users are encouraged to periodically review this information to ensure that they are notified of any updates.
