The Community Impact Challenge is designed to bring together students and local community organizations. By collaborating, students and community organizations will create an insightful community knowledge publication (see our sample below), highlighting local challenges and the organization's operations and programs that address these challenges.
The challenge process is straightforward : register, partner with a community organization, and create and submit a draft of your 4-page publication. The committee board will then review the submissions, selectingsuccessful students based on published criteria. These students will be recognized as Community Impact Scholars and receive a formal acknowledgment from ScienceReach. Among these recognized students, 10 to 15 individuals will have the opportunity to win a laptop for the new academic year.
ScienceReach offers two options for organizations to participate in the Community Impact Challenge. Firstly, organizations can partner with a student that is selected by ScienceReach based on common interests and goals and collaborate with them to create community knowledge publications. Organizations can also choose to work with a student already in their network and submit a publication.
For students, this event offers a chance to engage in a meaningful academic activity, using your analytical expertise to review and integrate the latest academic literature with insights and knowledge from the community.
You'll also have the opportunity to engage in knowledge mobilization, the process of making research accessible and relevant to non-academic audiences. Additionally, participating in this event allows you to network with professionals in your field of interest, as well as with community members and organizations.
And let's not forget the chance to win a laptop as one of the Community Impact Scholars!
