Obesity Reduction Knowledge Mobilization Action Research Public Health Stakeholder Engagement

Project Description

This action research project aims to address the critical public health issue of obesity in Canada through effective knowledge mobilization. Obesity poses significant health risks, including diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic conditions. Our project seeks to translate research findings into practical strategies and policies to reduce obesity rates and improve overall public health. Objectives: Generate evidence-based insights through comprehensive research on the causes and consequences of obesity in Canada. Engage stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare professionals, educational institutions, community organizations, and the general public. Develop and implement effective communication strategies to disseminate research findings. Collaborate with policymakers and healthcare providers to incorporate research insights into actionable policies and practices. Promote community involvement in preventive measures and support programs tailored to their needs. Methodology: The project employs a participatory action research framework, involving stakeholders at every stage. Data collection includes surveys, interviews, and community consultations. Knowledge mobilization strategies are tailored to each stakeholder group for accessible and impactful communication. Expected Outcomes: Increased awareness and understanding of obesity-related issues among stakeholders. Adoption of evidence-based practices in healthcare and policymaking. Enhanced community engagement in obesity prevention and reduction efforts. Measurable decrease in obesity rates in targeted communities. Through this collaborative approach, the project aims to create sustainable, long-term solutions to combat obesity and improve public health outcomes in Canada.
